New month: 30 list update

-In January I read:
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society : "January 1946: writer Juliet Ashton receives a letter from a stranger, a founding member of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. And so begins a remarkable tale of the island of Guernsey during the German occupation, and of a society as extraordinary as its name." This book was enjoyable and made me want to visit the island of Guernsey. I give it an 8 out of 10.
ROOM: This was our latest book club read. I read it in 2.5 days. I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen! It was different than any other book I have read before, and I won't give away anymore in case anyone is still reading. I give it a 9 out of 10.
Harry Pottery III: This book should need no explanation! :)
A Homemade Life: My sister recommended this book to me. The author grew up in Oklahoma and it is a book of stories behind recipes. In one story she references a Chinese restaurant in the Casady shops- which is right by my house! Although I'm not sure how many of the recipes I would actually try, I thought it was a lovely, interesting book. I definitely want to make the cake she had for her wedding, and it made me want to visit Paris again.

Four out of thirty books read!

-I memorized two bible verses: Philippians 4:12 and Isaiah 43: 1b-2

-My 3rd out of 10 new restaurants was The Whole Enchilada. We had an Eat Around OKC deal so I thought it would be a cheap meal out. It was, minus having to pay to park in a parking garage downtown due to crrrazy traffic downtown due to many events that night. Michael has been here several times and has really liked his food. For me I have to give it a 5 out of 10. I got a fajita chicken soft taco and fajita beef soft taco. It was just so so, nothing I feel like I need to go back for. Perhaps if I did go back I would try the quesdilla featured in the review above.

- I almost feel like this one should be private, but I decided what I wanted to do for my "donate money to a good work". I have wanted to sponsor a child through compassion international for a few years now and just never have. We filled out the application last week and should get our packet about our child sometime this week. I am excited!

-My other January accomplishment was a month with no coke/dr. pepper

Hello old friend! So what is the point to go a month off and then start again? Well I wanted to get out of having them 5-6 days per week and just have one as a treat once every week or every other week. I know if I can be disciplined to go a month without then I can be more disciplined daily. Some foods like mexican and pizza just seem like they need to be washed down with a cold cola beverage! Anyway, glad I did this one in January- got it out of the way for the rest of the year! :)

I can't believe January is already over!

  2. Just think, it is only an 11 hour drive from our house to Guernsey and better yet it is just a 5 hour 40 minute drive to Paris~
