31 weeks

Trust me...you don't want to be the next person who tells me how big I look, how big my baby is going to be, how I will never make it til my due date, or how I look like I will have my baby any day now- that is unless you want to be featured in the book I am thinking about writing entitled "Rude things to say to a pregnant woman". :)

Time is flying by and we are both so excited to meet our little girl!

Thoughts about animal, vegetable, miracle

I began this book a month ago. I put it down to start some child birth books, but plan to finish it soon. I think the biggest thing I have got from it so far is my lack of awareness or thought about where food comes from and what we are putting into our bodies. The author talks about how in the past people only ate foods that were in season and mostly local. Today we want strawberries year round and other foods that don't grow in our regions or during certain seasons. She discusses the enormous amount of money our country spends on importing these foods so we can have them available year round, and how keeps us from being a self sustaining people. The family in the book lives for a year on the things they grow themselves and foods they are able to buy from their local farmers (with the exception of one splurge item each family members can choose, such as coffee) and documents their journey.
The book has not been a big page turner for me, but has given me some things to think about. I usually go to the farmer's market in the summer time, but now look at which stands are selling Oklahoma items. I found a market that only supports local and state farmers and have gone to that one some. I have also been thinking about joining the Oklahoma Food Cooperative.
I might want to find someone else who wants to join and split the cost until I decide if it is something we would use very much. I don't want to be obsessive about these things, but I do think it is important to be informed, and think about where the food we eat is coming from and what is actually in the food that goes into our bodies.

Bathroom changes

Before:
When we picked this color I envisioned a warm, chocolaty color... Instead I think it looked like something that starts with P and rhymes with goo. Not what I was going for.

We have never liked the gold lights in there since we moved in.



After:
Michael textured over the walls, painted with white primer, and painted the new color of "ice cube".

And hung a shelf over the toilet for more storage. So far the ice cube is a lot more calming and brighter than the "chocolate" brown mishap.

The internet has arrived!

We have been back in our house for a week now, and just got the internet set up yesterday. So we are connected with the world again. Having no TV and no internet for a week helped us to get a lot done. Every night after work and all of this weekend we have been working on getting everything settled in our house. It has been a lot of work, but we are very close now. We are so grateful for the all of the friends who helped us move and helped me unpack things!

Here I am at 28 weeks, tired after a long day at work.


After church today we got to meet our friend's new baby, Milo. He was super sweet.


We have been working on the nursery. Michael hung the chandelier earlier this week and it is one of my favorite parts so far.


A wicked storm is rolling in this evening. I love Oklahoma skylines!

On the move...

Things look pretty chaotic on our end. We are in the process of packing our apartment and moving back to our house. Michael spent the day yesterday ripping out the carpet at our house, replacing the wood on the steps of our stairs, and painting. I had to work all day, but joined in him in painting until 1 AM last night.

Isabella's room in warm caramel and one wall of ballerina pink. (I love paint names! What a fun job!) The warm caramel is a bit dark for a nursery, but I am hoping my vision for it comes together when it is all finished.

Our carpet is being laid right now and Michael is retexturizing our bathroom to re-paint the painting mistake we made in there. I better start packing more boxes!
