Mostly we played on the beach, took naps, and ate yummy food. We also went to the outlet mall and checked out some the beach towns around us on a few days. And that's my kind of vacation! :)

Beach baby
Several things derailed me from blogging last week...so here is a late post-vacation post.
I am happy to say I think our girl loves the beach as much as we do. She had a blast digging in the sand and playing away and even swimming out deep in the ocean.
The water was super rough one day, but otherwise we had great beach days and great weather.
Lots of helicopters and planes flew overhead, which she loved watching.
We loved our week at the beach and all of the family time we had. The Florida coast is so beautiful! Michael left for a 4 day work trip early in the morning when we got home. Isabella and I were missing Daddy and the beach as soon as we got home. She asked me several times that week if she could "go to florida later" and "go on trip to beach".
If she wasn't concentrating on her work she was in motion. Her movement and some tricky lighting situations made it difficult for me to get good shots as I am still learning to shoot in manual mode.

Home
We made it home from our trip this evening. As usual, there is much to do with getting settled back into home, but here are just a few favorite pictures from the week.

Sunrise at the ocean
Apparently I should have got up to see the sunrise while we were in Padre earlier this summer, because where we were in FL the sun does not rise OVER the ocean. #20 on the list is watch the sun rise over the ocean. Which is why this post is sunrise AT the ocean. I am still counting it toward the list because it was magnificent AND I got up at 5:30 to go see it! Beth braved the early morning with me.
The sun just starting to burst through the sky.
The reflection of the sun on the clouds and ocean made red and orange colors.
Huge storm clouds at sea.
Hard to see, but a rainbow started appearing in the clouds over the ocean.
Daylight breaking.
The rainbow kept getting bigger!
GOOD MORNING!
After the sunrise we did our morning run on the beach. By this time the rainbow was stretching out over the land. It was gorgeous! After about a 1/2 mile it began pouring down rain. So we ran back and sipped coffee on the back porch of the cabin, listened to rain, and watched a deer run by. It was a great morning!

A week by the sea
We spent a few days driving and a week at our favorite beach with friends last week. We had a great time and made lots of lasting memories. Our days mostly consisted of coffee and breakfast, playing with our babies, watching our babies play together, then morning nap, beach time, lunch, napping again for the babies and napping/reading/shopping for the grown ups, dinner, smores, talking, and laughing.
The forecast was showing rain every day so I was hoping we wouldn't be rained out every day. But it only rained a couple times during the day, and just for short periods of time. Unfortunately the rain out at sea did wash up loads of seaweed a couple of days turning the water into a nasty green algae mess that no one wanted to swim in. Luckily for those days there were books to be read and an outlet mall close by. Isabella did not care too much for the beach on our trip in May, but she loved swimming in the water this time. Hopefully she is now converted to a beach baby!
My favorite things were: seeing the dolphins swimming, a fancy smancy grilled cheese from an adorable airstream trailer in Seaside, swimming with my baby in the ocean, smores, the quiet of our cabin, running with Beth, the fried shrimp I had on my date with Michael, watching the sunrise, and lots of family and friends time.
#9 Our cabin at Grayton Beach State Park. Nothing fancy about the cabins, but they were peaceful, clean, and had everything we needed. There was no TV, no wireless internet...and I think those are good things to take a break from.
Isabella and Milo had quite the set up at the beach between their shade tent and little pool with an umbrella. All they needed was someone to bring them drinks with umbrellas in them and they would have been set!
Out on a date with my hot husband. We tried a new place called Shorty's. It was way loud and not the best for a date where you actually want to talk to the person you are with, but I did have the best fried shrimp I have ever eaten! I would order it to go next time.

Goodbye Grayton Beach...we will be back again!
It is always a tough transition coming back from a week of vacation and 24 hours a day of time together. I always miss Michael when we go back to spending our week days apart. I am so grateful we had the time together.
